Can I just mention that I miss school?
Can I just mention that I miss school?

Welcome to another installment of What’s Up Wednesday!

WHAT I RECENTLY READ – The last 30 pages of There Once Lived A Girl Who Seduced Her Sister’s Husband and He Hanged Himself. I promise to review that one because, whew, that title!

WHAT I’M CURRENTLY READING – Lately, it’s been hard for me to commit to one or two books. If you are friends with me on Goodreads, you’d have seen how I’ve fluctuated among 5+ books in the last couple of weeks! I don’t know, y’all. I need something to engage me. But what?

WHAT I’M CURRENTLY WATCHING – A whole lot of Naked & Afraid. This is a survivalist reality show where people get tossed into a hard-to-live-in environment with another person… while buck-naked. It’s great entertainment.

WHAT I RECENTLY BOUGHT – A whole lot of books! I’m sorry, wallet. I can’t help myself. I bought a couple of graphic novels that I can’t wait to show you all.

WHAT’S UP IN GENERAL – Still chucking away at that PA application. I managed to finalize my transcript and add more schools to the application a little while ago. Sigggghhh. This isn’t fun, y’all.

As we are on the topic of school, I’m planning on taking CNA classes at the end of August. It’s a quick and easy way for me to obtain those direct experience hours I’m required to have. The classes that I’m wanting to take are Monday through Thursday, 4 to 9:40 PM. Clinicals would be twice a week, 2 to 11 PM 😦 .. that should be fun.

Currently Reading: Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

I picked up Fight Club last Thursday on a whim. If you are not friends with me on Goodreads, then you missed out on my status update on it, which read, and I quote, “f*ck the people in this book, man. just f*ck em. horrible ass wipes jesus christ I’m going to bed.”

So essentially, the book is about a nameless narrator who is pretty much at his breaking point. We don’t exactly know the source of his misery, but it is apparent that he is slowly falling apart. Enter Tyler Durden, a film projectionist. Tyler meets up with our narrator and forms a secret, underground club where grown men come together to knock the crap out of each other.

That’s one story line. The other is an examination of the disturbing relationship between these two men. I’m currently almost halfway with the book, but I can’t bring myself to reading it all at once because for such a short book, it is a lot to absorb. Tyler is a despicable human being. He is manipulative. He is a bad influence on the protagonist. He is a bomb just waiting to detonate.

I can only take so much of him in one sitting. So yes. Taking a break from Fight Club for now.

This is my first Palahniuk, and I have almost all of his books on my to-read list because their synopses sounded so intriguing. I’m bound to like at least one, right?

It’s A Wrap! TBR TAKEDOWN 2.0

A day-by-day account of the readathon:

    • Finished Where’d You Go Bernadette and it was wonderful! I’ll be doing a review of it in the upcoming weeks so look out for that.

  • Sunday, July 26th
    • Finished The Unusual Suspects and promptly picked up the next in the series called The Problem Child
    • Decided to continue with Divergent since my sister wanted me to finish it and tell her what I thought of it
  • Monday, July 27th
    • Finished The Problem Child at 3 in the morning
    • Picked up To All the Boys I’ved Loved Before later that day
  • Tuesday, July 28th
    • Read a little bit of Divergent, but it was my day off so I wanted to just relax
  • Wednesday, July 29th & Thursday, July 30th
    • No reading took place because I worked both days and went out in the evenings. Plus, I started to study for the GRE.
  • Friday, July 31st
    • Waited until 11 PM to read some Jenny Han; ended up finishing the book at 2 AM Saturday! -_-

So, basically I read:

Where’d You Go Bernadette, The Unusual Suspects, & The Problem Child.

Y’all, I don’t know HOW I’m going to do the Booktubeathon next week… work and studying are gonna keep me busy!
